Fiji’s international captain and former All Blacks lock Stephen Giteau has been diagnosed with an ankle injury and will not play against South Africa.

Giteau was on Friday treated by specialist physiotherapists at Adelaide Hospital for his injury.

He left Friday night’s game after being flagged down by the referee on the final try and was unable to play again, his agent said.

“He wants to thank the Fiji coaching staff, his teammates, the fans and the club for all their love and support throughout his recovery,” Giteau’s spokesman, Phil Sloper, said.

“We’ve been working with the physio and will be keeping him updated throughout the night on his prognosis.

“Fiji players are looking forward to meeting their families at Sunday night’s home game against the Springboks at the Principality Stadium.”

Giteau’s return is the 천안출장샵last big blow for New Zealand before they take on their arch rivals in the first Test in Johannesburg on September 2.

He is averaging just 2.9 metres, but has started three of the four games he has played this season.

The All Blacks have lost two of their past three Test matches.

Meanwhile, captain Richie McCaw will be a long way from his best, according to coach Steve Hansen.

McCaw hasn’t played any Tests after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in the autumn and has missed the last two Tests.

He was fit for Friday’s quarter-final defeat by the Wallabies and has looked confident on the field this time.

But there is a risk he will not be in line to face South Africa in the second Test which takes place three months after that.

Hansen had expe카지노cted to see McCaw again as the No.10 returned to the side against the Springboks, but the 29-year-old has returned to fitness.

Meanwhile, South Africa’s squad has been announced following three days of training.

The selection of flankers Jannie du Plessis and James Slipper has boosted the pack.
